The Borough of Preston in the County of Lancaster

The court Baron commonly called the Inquest of Office is holden in the Town Hall of the same Borough on Monday the first day of march in the forty second year of the reign of his majesty King George the third and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and two.

The Jurors to enquire as well for our Sovereign Lord the King as for the Mayor, Bailiffs and Burgesses of the said Borough.

12th October 1802

Samuel Horrocks Esquire was sworn into the office of mayor and also took the oath of a coroner and Justice of Peace for the Borough and then chose his Bailiff Mr Thomas Miller.

Mr Nicholas Grimshaw Esquire the late mayor took the oath of Justice of Peace for the Borough.

Mr William Leighton was sworn into the office of Towns Bailiff.

Mr Thomas Miller was sworn into the office of Mayors Bailiff.

James Townsend was sworn into the office of Mayors Serjeant.

John Clowes was sworn into the office of Towns Serjeant.
