Haverthwaite to Black Beck - distance 6.0 miles

LRO ref DDX/45

Approaching Newby Bridge there was at the far side of the river a large three-chimney house lived in by Richard Taylor and at the near side lived Mr John Robinson.  At the south end of Lake Windermere at the outflow into the river with its pronounced bow shape lived Richard Robinson. It was at this point that the surveyors put away their chains and recommenced using the dimensurator on the roadways. After only half a mile at Cartmell Fells they reset the measured reading to zero and carried on at the lakeside to Blake Holme house lived in by Thomas Brathwaite. The reading at the end of this sheet was 1 mile 6 furlongs and 3 pole written as 1 : 6 : 3. There is gap from here of 2.5 miles on the lakeside road, the records of which are missing.
